In a major step toward empowering the Deaf community in Pakistan, Deaf Reach, a project of the Family Educational Services Foundation (FESF), opened a Skills Training Center in Lahore earlier this week (DRTC). The center is designed to equip Deaf youth and adults with practical, marketable skills that can improve their employment opportunities and allow them to achieve financial independence.

The launch event, held at the new facility, featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by deaf students alongside Richard Geary, Founder of Deaf Reach in Pakistan. Mr. Richard emphasized the organization's long-term vision of inclusion and opportunity, stating, "This center brings us one step closer to our goal of ensuring that every deaf individual in Pakistan has access to quality education, relevant training, and a path to self-reliance."

Located in a building provided by the Punjab Government's Social Welfare Department, the center was renovated with generous support from Style Textiles. The facility is now set to offer a range of vocational training programs, including tailoring, computer literacy, digital design, handicrafts, and other skills aligned with current job market demands. In addition to technical training, the DRSTC will provide career counseling and job placement services, helping participants transition from learning environments into the workforce.

With the opening of this center, Deaf Reach continues to expand its footprint and impact, offering deaf individuals not just skills, but also the confidence and resources to actively participate in society.
